We’ve almost made it to the end. Not just the end of this year, but also the end of one of the most beloved multi-generational series of our times. This month, Part 1 of Season 6 of The Crown hits our screens, before taking its final curtsy in December.
Alas, there’s plenty of new content to keep us company in the wake of our royal woes. From a fresh new Regency romance to rival Bridgerton, to a thrilling murder mystery about a reclusive billionaire, here are nine of the best series to binge this November.
1. The Buccaneers
Where can I watch it? On Apple TV+
Here to fill the perfect period drama void left by Bridgerton, The Buccaneers is Apple TV’s answer to Regency romance. Less British but just as bingeworthy, The Buccaneers is an adaptation of Edith Wharton's 1938 novel of the same name. Set in the 1870s, the series follows five young and vivacious American women as they set out to find their suitors in London. A love triangle of epic proportions shapes the series, which ends with a tea-spilling secret that will leave you as wide-eyed as the English elite when they hear how these American ladies speak.
2. The Curse
Where can I watch it? On Apple TV+
Slated to be this year’s strangest show, The Curse is a kooky dark horror-comedy by Nathan Fielder (The Rehearsal) and Benny Safdie (Uncut Gems), who both created and co-star in the series alongside Emma Stone. The general gist: Fielder and Stone play husband and wife turned house-flipping HGTV show hosts who use their industry skills and trendy taste to gentrify a small town in New Mexico, causing a young local girl to put a curse on them. From there, things get weird. And then weirder.
3. The Crown, Season 6 Part 1
Where can I watch it? On Netflix
Edging ever closer to its conclusion, Netflix’s most cherished biopic, The Crown, enters the first phase of its final season this month. The 10-episode season is set to be divided into two parts, with the first four episodes focusing on Princess Diana’s untimely death and its aftermath. It’s been one royal rollercoaster ride, with the series beginning at Queen Elizabeth II’s wedding in 1947 and continuing to trace Her Majesty’s reign throughout the following decades. Anticipated to cover the period between 1997 to 2005, Part 1 of Season 6 will be an emotional journey for obvious reasons. Part 2 of the final season is set for release in December.
4. A Murder at the End of the World
Where can I watch it? On Disney+
It’s been a minute, but the creators of Netflix’s 2016 series The OA are back, though this time they’ve swapped sci-fi for murder mystery. Starring Emma Corrin (who played Diana in Season 4 of The Crown) as Darby Hart, A Murder at the End of the World is about… well, just that. Nine guests are invited to a remote retreat by a reclusive billionaire, but only eight survive. Led by a Gen Z hacker whose sleuthing skills put us insta-detectives to shame, the murder becomes a classic case of whodunnit, with just as many twists and turns as the road they took to get there.
5. Julia, Season 2
Where can I watch it? On Binge
To know Julia is to love Julia. Fewer people have been more deserving of a biopic series than the iconic chef, author, and TV cooking show host, Julia Child. Last year, the critically acclaimed first season followed the trials and triumphs of the American cook as she pursued a career later in life, succeeding against the odds (and expectations of a male-dominated entertainment industry). Season 2 finds Julia in the French Riviera and Paris, where she travels with crockpots full of charisma to learn the ins and outs of European cuisine.
6. The Billionaire, the Butler and the Boyfriend
Where can I watch it? On Netflix
Infamously dubbed ‘The Bettencourt Affair’ in France, this three-part series explores how a mother-daughter feud spiralled into a national scandal that involved high-ranking officials within the French government. At the centre of this titillating tale is Liliane Bettencourt, heiress of the L'Oreal empire and once world’s richest woman, who at the time of her death in 2017 was worth upwards of $40 Billion. Enter Francoise Marie Banier, a ‘close friend’ who Bettencourt’s daughter suspected was manipulating her elderly mother, a criminal complaint, and leaked recordings of French prime minister Nicolas Sarkozy, and you’ve got a scandalous docuseries on your hands.
7. Virgin River, Season 5 Part 2

Understatement of the year: Things got a little hectic in the last episode of Virgin River Season 5 part 1. Netflix decided to give fans of the romantic drama a little breather before dropping the final two episodes of the season, AKA Part 2. Now that we’ve recouped emotionally, part 2 promises to be lighter on the heart and heavy on the holiday vibes.
8. All the Light We Cannot See

Anthony Doerr’s Pulitzer-Winning World War II novel All The Light We Cannot See was a winner, and we’re glad to see the TV adaptation will finally be with us this month. Louis Hofmann and newcomer Aria Mia Loberti star in this epic drama that is at once a war story, philosophical fable, and coming-of-age classic. It tells the story of a blind French girl and a German soldier boy who converge during the 1944 Battle of Saint-Malo, and try to survive the devastation of World War II.
9. Squid Game: The Challenge
Where can I watch it? On On Netflix
Ah, Squid Game. The harrowing show no one asked for but no one could turn their eyes from. This new reality TV show will see 456 real players put their skills – and character – to the ultimate test for a life-changing $4.56 million prize. Join hosts Chris Evans and Emily Blunt and watch these competitors who will battle it out in a series of games where the sets and challenges look exactly like the original show. But don't worry, there's no death here!
