10 New TV Shows We’ll Be Binge-Watching This June

From 'The Idol' to the sixth of 'Black Mirror', June is set to be one of the biggest months of TV.

Buckle up, grab some popcorn, and wrap yourself up like a burrito on your sofa, June is set to be a huge month for streaming services. The show of the month just might be The Idol, the highly-anticipated new series from Euphoria creator Sam Levinson starring Lily-Rose Depp and The Weeknd. It just premiered at Cannes to headline-grabbing reviews and looks set to be one of the most talked about shows of the year.

But outside of that, what else is there to watch in June? And Just Like That and The Bear both return for highly anticipated second seasons, while there’ll be new shows – mysteries Deadloch and Saint X – to devour, as well as comedies including Funny Woman, starring Gemma Arterton and Based On A True Story, led by Kaley Cuoco.

These are the 11 new shows and seasons we’ll be watching in June – let the binge-watching commence!

1. Deadloch

Where can I watch it? On Prime Video

A comedy series with bite, Deadloch skewers all the tropes of mystery shows that you know and love. Set in a sleepy Tasmanian town scandalised by a dead body that washes up on the beach, the show follows a team of detectives who must solve the crime before it threatens to rain on the parade of the town’s annual ‘Winter Feastival’. Funny, silly, and clever, it's a perfect binge-watch for anyone who has spent too long brooding over murder mystery shows like Broadchurch or Shetland.

2. The Idol

Where can I watch it? On Binge

Are you excited for The Idol? Chances are you’ve heard a lot about it, given the pedigree behind the series (the show was created by Sam Levinson, the man who makes Euphoria) and its cast, including Lily-Rose Depp, The Weeknd, and Australia’s own Troye Sivan. The show follows a pop star attempting to stage a comeback after a breakdown, who is drawn into the web of a mysterious and potentially nefarious nightclub owner. The action is set against the backdrop of Los Angeles’ seedy underbelly and tells a story of fame and fortune gone bad. Like Levinson’s work on Euphoria, you can be guaranteed a scandalous and cinematically put-together ride. We predict this will be the show of the month.

3. Black Mirror, Season 6

Where can I watch it? On Netflix

If you were rattled by the previous five seasons from the ominously symbolic Black Mirror series, prepare yourself for the most unpredictable season yet. Enveloped with dark twists and satirical turns, season six is packed with an incredible roster of actors that bring these sinister stories to life. Aaron Paul, Salma Hayek, Michael Cera, and Rory Culkin are just a few of the familiar faces you'll recognise this season. Just as binge-worthy as it’s disturbing predecessors – we recommend freeing up your weekend, shutting the blinds, and pressing play on the five eerie episodes that await.

4. Funny Woman

Gemma Arterton stars as a beauty queen turned comedy maverick in this adaptation of one of the most beloved novels, Funny Woman by Nick Hornby. Arterton plays Barbara, a former pageant sweetheart who becomes the star of a hit comedy show in the male-dominated world of London in the ‘60s. If you loved The Marvelous Mrs Maisel, we think this could be the show for you. Co-stars include Rupert Everett of My Best Friend’s Wedding fame and Tom Bateman.

5. Based on a True Story

Speaking of Tom Bateman! Based on a True Story also stars the actor, who appears alongside Kaley Cuoco and Chris Messina in this clever satire of the world’s obsession with true crime. Cuoco and Messina star as a married couple obsessed with murder podcasts who, through a chance opportunity and an eyewitness moment, decide to turn their obsession into a side hustle. This show has serious Only Murders In The Building energy and features a great supporting cast. We’ll definitely be watching.

6. Never Have I Ever, Season 4

The final season of Never Have I Ever is here. We aren’t sure that we’re ready to say goodbye yet to Devi (Maitreyi Ramakrishnan) but we know that for these four seasons, we’ve loved watching her grow in this coming-of-age story from Mindy Kaling. This show is always funny, always charming and always full of heart. We love it. Farewell, Devi and co!

7. The Crowded Room

Where can I watch it? On AppleTV+

This psychological thriller has a brilliant cast that incldues Tom Holland, Amanda Seyfried, Sasha Lane, Jason Isaacs, Emmy Rossum, and Christopher Abbott. The series follows Danny (Holland), who is in prison for his involvement in a shooting in New York in the ‘70s, as he speaks to a police psychologist (Seyfried) attempting to unravel the truth about the case. Flashbacks and unreliable narrators make this series an addictive and mysterious watch.

8. Saint X

Where can I watch it? On Disney+

Another psychological thriller to watch out for is Saint X, starring Australian Alycia Debnam-Carey as a young woman trying to uncover the mystery of her sister’s death while on a family vacation many years prior. There are several twists and turns in this show, which plays with timelines and memory as the truth of what happened on that island holiday comes to light. Addictive and binge-worthy.

9. Secret Invasion

Where can I watch it? On Disney+

It’s been a while since we’ve had a new Marvel television show, and what a way to return. Secret Invasion has a lot of potential to be our new obsession. For one, there’s the cast, which includes Marvel mainstay Samuel L Jackson returning as Nick Fury, as well as the phenomenal Olivia Colman, Emilia Clarke, and Kingsley Ben-Adir. “Fury, since you’ve been gone, things have gotten much worse,” the trailer begins. “Why do you think I’ve come back?” We’re ready for a team-up between Jackson as Fury and Colman’s mysterious character. We can’t wait to see what they get up to.

10. And Just Like That, Season 2

Where can I watch it? On Binge

The girls are back in town! Carrie, Charlotte, Miranda and co return in And Just Like That season two later this month and we could truly not be more excited to see Sarah Jessica Parker, Cynthia Nixon, and Kristin Davis back on our screens. The big reveal from this new season, which unless you’ve been under a rock and have missed all the social media posts these past few months you would already know, is that Aidan Shaw, Carrie’s one-time paramour and fiance from seasons three and four of Sex & the City and played by John Corbett, is also back. Phew! What is going to happen there? We only have a few more weeks before we’ll find out.
