Forget returning seasons, or even worse, finales, because March is all about the brand-new series.
From Riz Ahmed’s new comedy, Bait, to the Rachel Weisz-led erotic thriller dramedy, Vladimir, to the Big Little Lies-esque Imperfect Women, this month is packed with fresh storytelling.
And the casting couldn’t be more impressive. Iconic duo Nicole Kidman and Jamie Lee Curtis play sisters in Scarpetta, while in Imperfect Women, Elisabeth Moss, Kerry Washington and Kate Mara play besties torn apart by murder.
Steve Carell returns to the screen in Shrinking-inspired series Rooster, while Jason Bateman, Linda Cardellini, and David Harbour shape an unhinged love triangle in dark comedy DTF St. Louis. Serving up a buffet of binge-worthy hits, here are 12 new TV shows on the menu this March.
1. Bait
Where can I watch it? On Prime Video
Taking notes from Seth Rogen’s The Studio, Riz Ahmed both creates and stars in this six-part series that follows a struggling actor named Shah Latif who finds out he’s in the running to play James Bond. Cue four days of wild ups and downs as everyone from his parents to his ex-lover weigh in on whether he’s cut out for the most famous of roles. Joining Riz for the ride is co-star and British comedian, Guz Khan.
2. Deadloch Season 2
Where can I watch it? On Prime Video
Following the global sensation of Deadloch’s first season in 2023, the hilarious crime comedy created by Kate McCartney and Kate McLennan returns. Trading winter woollies for bug spray, Detectives Dulcie Collins (Kate Box) and Eddie Redcliffe (Madeleine Sami) find themselves in the unforgiving heat of the Northern Territory. On top of moderating their body temps, they’re tasked with investigating the death of Eddie’s former police partner, Bushy. At least until another body shows up, leading them into murky, croc-infested waters.
3. DTF St. Louis
Where can I watch it? On HBO
Who said love triangles belonged to two teen brothers and their mum’s best friend’s daughter? In DTF St. Louis, Jason Bateman, Linda Cardellini, and David Harbour become entangled in a love triangle that loses shape when one of them ends up dead. Spurred by mid-life crises and a hookup app that David Harbour suspiciously seemed to know his way around very well, this black comedy takes the dangers of dating to a whole new level.
4. Imperfect Women
Where can I watch it? Apple TV+
Big Little Lies walked so that Imperfect Women could fly, piloted by none other than Elisabeth Moss and Kerry Washington. Alongside Kate Mara, they play life-long besties Mary, Eleanor, and Nancy, whose friendship is cut short by murder. Based on the 2020 book of the same name by Araminta Hall, this eight-episode psychological thriller puts picture-perfect portrayals under the microscope to uncover a reality besieged by betrayal and guilt.
5. Jury Duty Season 2
Where can I watch it? On Prime Video
Officially titled Jury Duty Presents: Company Retreat, this new instalment of the mockumentary-style hidden camera show takes us out of the courtroom and into the…hot sauce factory? Set on a corporate offsite event at a family-owned hot sauce company, Anthony joins the staff as a temporary worker. Or so he thinks. Unbeknownst to Anthony, everyone else is acting in a pre-orchestrated plot that pits corporate values against small biz beliefs. A prank show with heart.
6. Rooster
Where can I watch it? On HBO
From the mind of Ted Lasso and Shrinking creator Bill Lawrence comes Rooster, a campus comedy series centred around a strained father-daughter relationship. Steve Carell plays an author and dad who shows up to his daughter Katie’s college, where she teaches as a professor, to comfort her post-divorce. While there, he becomes charmed by campus life and the fandom for his novels he never knew existed. Less coming-of-age, more being-middle-age, Rooster is a funny, warm-hearted exploration of parenthood and reflection.
7. Scarpetta
Where can I watch it? On Prime Video
Adapted from Patricia Cornwell’s globally loved book series, which spans 29 novels and has sold over 120 million copies, Scarpetta sees Hollywood’s royal majesties Nicole Kidman and Jamie Lee Curtis play sisters on screen. The eight-ep crime thriller follows forensic pathologist Dr. Kay Scarpetta (Kidman) over two timelines – past and present – as she investigates a grisly murder. Bobby Cannavale and Simon Baker round out the already star-stacked cast in this forensically detailed drama.
8. Siren’s Kiss
Where can I watch it? On Prime Video
Based on Hisashi Nozawa’s Japanese series, Koori no Sekai, this 12-ep South Korean romantic thriller begins with a mysterious call claiming to have intel on a murder. But the caller dies before they can drop the deets, leading investigator Cha Woo-seok into a web of suspicion and deceit, care of an icy art auctioneer with a history of fiancés who have all died under suspicious circumstances.
9. Something Very Bad Is Going to Happen
Where can I watch it? On Netflix
From the producers of Stranger Things and Baby Reindeer comes the very chill titled Something Very Bad Is Going to Happen, starring Camila Morrone and Adam DiMarco. In this eight-ep horror series, a young couple on the brink of marriage start to get cold feet – or better yet, hot dread – as their wedding day approaches. Forget fear of commitment, something much scarier awaits at the altar.
10. The Madison
Where can I watch it? On Paramount+
Here to scratch your Yellowstone itch, Taylor Sheridan’s latest spinoff follows the Clyburn family as they relocate from New York to rural Montana post-tragedy. Bringing the story to life is a cast that includes Michelle Pfeiffer, Patrick J. Adams, Elle Chapman, Matthew Fox, and Kurt Russell, to name but a few. And with a season 2 confirmed six months before the first ep was even set to premiere, it’s safe to assume The Madison will prove worth the wait.
11. Vladimir
Where can I watch it? On Netflix
Based on Julia May Jonas’ 2022 novel of the same name, Vladimir is an erotic academia dramedy starring Rachel Weisz and Leo Woodall. Set in a liberal arts college, Weisz plays a literature professor whose husband gets caught sleeping with his students. In response, Weisz begins to explore her own desires and becomes infatuated with her much younger colleague (played by Woodall). Prepare to be as obsessed with this eight-ep drama as its leading lady is with her new beau.
12. Young Sherlock
Where can I watch it? On Prime Video
Another day, another Guy Ritchie-directed period piece. And what glorious days they always prove to be. This time, the acclaimed filmmaker is dusting off his waistcoat wardrobe for a series adaptation of the Young Sherlock Holmes novels by Andy Lane. Led by Hero Fiennes Tiffin, the series is set in 1870s Oxford, following a teenage Sherlock around town as he develops his spy senses alongside Sir Bucephalus Hodge, played by Colin Firth.
