11 New Movies We're Most Looking Forward to in 2026

From the long-awaited 'The Devil Wears Prada' sequel to 'Dune: Part 3' and Emerald Fennell’s much-buzzed-about adaptation of classic gothic novel 'Wuthering Heights', these are the movies we’re excited to see next year.

It seems impossible, but somehow, The Devil Wears Prada was released almost two decades ago. For twenty years, it has been quoted, memed, and even featured in coursework at Harvard Business School, but development of a sequel has moved at what Meryl might call “a glacial pace.”

Alas, next year, The Devil Wears Prada 2 will grace the not turquoise, not lapis, but silver screen. We’ll also return to Panem for a prequel in Hunger Games: Sunrise on the Reaping, and stop by the desert planet Arrakis in Dune: Part 3. Jacob Elordi also stars in not one, but two of 2026’s most anticipated releases, playing Hig in Ridley Scott’s post-apocalyptic film, The Dog Stars, and Heathcliff in Emerald Fennell’s film adaptation of Emily Brontë’s Wuthering Heights. What else? Let’s get into it! Here are all the movies we’re most looking forward to in 2026.

1. The Bride!

Starring Christian Bale, Jessie Buckley, and Jake Gyllenhaal, The Bride! is a darkly romantic, brightly saturated take on James Whale’s Bride of Frankenstein. Directed by Jake’s sis Maggie Gyllenhaal, the film trades 18th-century Britain for 1930s Chicago, where Dr. Euphronius and Frankenstein breathe new life into a murdered woman hoping to quell the Monster’s loneliness. A gothic punk love story ensues, fuelled by cop-car chases and blood vials, with their creation-turned-companion transforming into something far beyond their wildest dreams – and nightmares.

2. The Devil Wears Prada 2

A sequel? For 2026? Groundbreaking.

Yep, Meryl Streep is back in all her sharp-tongued glory as the comically demanding editor-in-chief, Miranda Priestly, alongside Anne Hathaway and Emily Blunt in one of the most anticipated sequels in comedy history. Based on Lauren Weisberger's 2013 novel, Revenge Wears Prada: The Devil Returns, this fashionably late follow-up to every millennials' favourite film follows Miranda as she faces the downfall of print publishing. Who will help save this sinking ship? Surely not her one-time assistant turned high-powered luxury exec, Emily? As the queen herself would say, “Please, bore someone else with your questions.”

3. The Dog Stars

Directed by the legendary Ridley Scott, The Dog Stars is a film adaptation of Peter Heller’s 2012 post-apocalyptic sci-fi novel of the same name. Set post-population-ravaging pandemic (nope, not that one), the film follows a lonely pilot named Hig (played by Jacob Elordi) who spends his days in an airplane hangar with his dog and an ex-Marine named Bangley (Josh Brolin). One day, he intercepts a mysterious transmission on his Cessna radio, and a journey to discover its source ensues. Margaret Qualley and Guy Pearce round out the cast of this rumoured $100M film, alongside around 1,000 extras. On-set catering must’ve had their hands (and pans) full.

4. Dune: Part 3

Since the debut of Dune, director Denis Villeneuve has hinted he will wrap up his sci-fi trilogy with an adaptation of Frank Herbert’s book, Dune Messiah. In Dune: Part 3, his final movie, Princess Irulan (played by the formidable Florence Pugh) is set to play a much bigger role, as well as Alia Atreides, played by Anya Taylor-Joy. Our favourite desert dwellers Timothée Chalamet and Zendaya will also return to Arrakis, with Robert Pattinson set to join the stellar cast in a villainous – but sadly not vampiric – role.

5. Hope

Starring Hwang Jung-min, Zo In-sung, Hoyeon, Taylor Russell, Alicia Vikander, Cameron Britton and Michael Fassbender, Hope is Korean filmmaking at its finest. Directed by Na Hong-Jin, the sci-fi thriller is set in the remote village of Hope Harbor, with the community thrown into chaos when a tiger sighting is reported to the local police. What starts as a localised crisis balloons into something much more unsettling and mysterious, driving Hope Harbor locals to dig deeper.

6. Hunger Games: Sunrise on the Reaping

Turns out the odds of a new Hunger Games film are ever in our favour. In Hunger Games: Sunrise on the Reaping, we head back to Panem to hear Haymitch Abernathy’s backstory for the sixth film adaptation of Suzanne Collins’s wildly popular dystopian saga. A star-studded cast of 33 actors and counting brings this prequel to life, with Joseph Zada as Haymitch Abernathy, Whitney Peak as Lenore Dove Baird, Ralph Fiennes as President Snow, and Elle Fanning as Effie Trinket, to name a few.

7. The Odyssey

Slated to be 2026’s biggest blockbuster, Christopher Nolan's The Odyssey brings Homer’s ancient Greek epic to life on screen. Starring Matt Damon, Zendaya, Tom Holland, Lupita Nyong'o, and many more, tickets for opening weekend screenings sold out almost a year in advance. Following the success of Nolan’s 2023 film, Oppenheimer, the epic action fantasy film follows Odysseus, the legendary Greek king of Ithaca, as he attempts to reunite with his wife Penelope following the Trojan War. Your move, Greta Gerwig.

8. Project Hail Mary

Another day, another adaptation – this time of Andy Weir’s seminal sci-fi novel, Project Hail Mary. Starring Ryan Gosling (who also produces), the film follows an astronaut who wakes up one morning in a spaceship with no memory of how or why. We’ve all been there. Slowly, but surely, he remembers he’s actually there to save humanity from extinction, which, honestly, you’d think you’d remember. Men! Directed by 22 Jump Street’s dynamic duo Phil Lord and Christopher Miller, the film feels unexpectedly human, despite being set in interstellar space.

9. The Rip

Speaking of dynamic duos, BFFs Matt Damon and Ben Affleck are back in action in The Rip, a crime thriller set in Miami. Alongside Steven Yeun, Catalina Sandino Moreno, and Teyana Taylor, the Bostonians lead a team of Miami police officers who discover millions in cash in an abandoned stash house. Soon after, distrust starts to spread amongst the detectives, which is dangerous for obvious reasons. Joining the already stacked cast is none other than Coach Taylor, AKA Kyle Chandler, who plays a DEA agent with clear eyes and a full heart. Can’t lose.

10. Street Fighter

Based on Capcom's most iconic arcade video game, Street Fighter is a live-action film with bite. Filmed over three months in Sydney, the martial arts marathon is set in 1993 and follows estranged fighters and Hadoken-ers Ryu and Ken who are drawn back into the World Warrior Tournament by Chun-Li (the first female fighter in the game). Personal histories are revealed and many uppercuts are thrown by a cast that includes everyone from Jason Momoa and Noah Centineo to Andrew Koji, Callina Liang, and 50 Cent.

11. Wuthering Heights

There have been many screen adaptations of Emily Brontë’s gothic novel Wuthering Heights, starting with Samuel Goldwyn’s 1939 classic. In 2026, Emerald Fennell’s version will come to life on screen, with the erotic psychological drama starring Jacob Elordi and Margot Robbie as passionate lovers Catherine Earnshaw and Heathcliff. Leaked set photos of Margot in a not-so-true-to-the-times wardrobe have many questioning how true to the book the new film will be, with the casting director warning, “there’s definitely going to be some English Lit fans that are not going to be happy.” Honestly just makes us want to watch it even more.
